MVH Profile: Merrie Beth Dodge, D.O., Hospitalist at MVH

Merrie Beth, when did you come to MVH?

I was first hired as a seasonal hospitalist at MVH in the summer of 2008. Later, I was asked to be the first full-time year-round hospitalist.

How would you describe your role as a hospitalist?

Mostly people come into the emergency room, and if necessary, they may be admitted to the hospital. At that point, I am the physician in charge of their medical care. I also care for patients in our skilled nursing facility (SNF), when patients need short-term physical rehabilitation.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Taking good care of people, and working with a really nice, smart group of people in acute care who are concerned about giving patients excellent treatment. I enjoy working with MVH’s great nursing staff, supportive administrative team, and friendly, hard-working housekeeping team.
