You have undoubtedly seen the array of new furniture strategically placed around Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
“The areas needed a new post-COVID facelift to make spaces more inviting and comfortable for visitors, patients and staff alike and to make open spaces more user friendly, as well as restful spots to take a break,” said Denise Schepici, president of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
The locations that have been refurbished include the maternity waiting area, Emergency Department registration/waiting area, hospital corridor, Old Main Lobby and Main Lobby.
The furniture was purchased from Medline, who made two deliveries on consecutive Saturdays at the end of August.
Furnishing for patient rooms will be coming separately at later date.
In addition to the furnishings, general painting and spruce ups will continue as needed around the campus.
Denise said she chose the furniture colors because she wanted soothing colors with outdoor vibes – flowers, leaf patterns, sand, sky colors, etc.
“Whether inside or outside, I feel esthetics are an important part of a healing environment – from the art and furnishings in our hospital to our healing garden spaces,” Denise said. “These touches, if even if for a moment, can help take your cares away from the stress of work, daily life, the concern for a friend or a loved one, or yourself, who may be ill. That becomes a healing moment.”
