Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Announces New CEO

At a meeting held on Dec. 28, the Board of Trustees of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital unanimously agreed to select Denise Schepici to serve as President & CEO of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Ms. Schepici has more than 30 years of healthcare leadership and management experience in various settings including academic medical centers, integrated health systems and community hospitals. While still a senior in college, she began as a technician in the cardiac catheterization lab at Salem Hospital, now North Shore Medical Center. After graduation, Denise advanced at North Shore to become Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. This position had broad responsibility for strategic planning, capital budgets, project management and Board reporting and communications. In 2003, Ms. Schepici joined Tufts Medical Center where she served until 2014, rising to the position of Senior Vice President of Clinical Services. Her most recent position was as Chief Administrative Officer at MetroWest Medical Center.

A dynamic leader with an outstanding record of achievement, she is a strategic thinker who is known for her collaborative approach to helping organizations achieve business objectives. She has extensive experience in developing strategies to enhance cultural and organizational change.

Having summered on the Vineyard since college, Ms. Schepici and her husband, Anthony, built a home in Vineyard Haven in 2003 where they currently reside.

Search Committee Chairman Susan Crampton said, “As both a highly respected health care professional and longtime admirer of the Vineyard, it felt like a perfect fit. The Board of Trustees unanimously agreed.”

Ms. Schepici holds a Boston University Sargent College of Allied Health bachelor of science degree and a Boston University School of Public Health master of public health degree. Says Ms. Schepici, “I love the Vineyard and I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve my own community.”

Ms. Schepici is scheduled to begin work in January.
